HoloGPT describes each dimension

I asked HoloGPT for base-level string-theory “dimension” descriptions. It started with the first dimension as the “0th dimension,” skipped a “line dimension,” and at dimension 8 introduced multiverse theory. Repetitive but expected. Here’s each dimension, described one at a time.

First dimension (the “0th”)

A dimensionless point — no length, width, or height. It represents a position in space with no physical size. Used as the fundamental building block on which higher dimensions are constructed; an idealization for studying geometry and spatial relationships.

Second dimension (2D)

Introduces length and width — a flat plane with two coordinates (x, y). Flat shapes like squares, circles, and triangles live here, with no height. Objects can move horizontally and vertically but not in or out of the plane. The world of drawings, screens, and the mathematical plane.

Third dimension (3D)

Adds depth (z) to length and width, so objects have volume. This is our physical reality — everything we see and interact with. It enables depth perception and realistic representation, and underlies engineering, architecture, games, film, VR, and scientific modeling.

Fourth dimension (4D)

Typically associated with time. In spacetime (Einstein’s relativity), an event’s position uses four coordinates: three spatial (x, y, z) and one temporal (t). A fourth spatial dimension is theoretical — describable mathematically but not directly perceivable. Its geometric analog of a cube is the hypercube, or tesseract: 8 cubic cells, 24 square faces, 32 edges, and 16 vertices.

Fifth dimension

Theoretical, beyond the four of space and time. In Kaluza-Klein theory and string theory, an additional spatial dimension “curled up” at small scales. Also used as a mathematical abstraction and, in fiction, as an alternative-reality device.

Sixth through tenth dimensions

Increasingly abstract additional spatial dimensions in string theory, typically compactified or hidden at tiny scales and invoked to unify forces and particles. Used as mathematical abstractions and, from the eighth dimension upward, often associated with multiverse theories positing many universes. Heavily featured in speculative fiction.

Eleventh dimension

Central to M-theory, the attempt to unify the five superstring theories. The eleventh dimension underlies those versions and serves as the framework for their unification; sometimes associated with multiverse models.

Twelfth dimension

Highly speculative and not part of mainstream physics — on the fringes of theoretical exploration. Occasionally discussed around string theory and M-theory, as a mathematical abstraction, or in multiverse and science-fiction contexts.
